We don't have much from our Vail trip in 1992. We know we stayed slope-side at Manor Vail, stuffing the condo-like rooms with more guests than were permitted. We know we couldn't wait each day to ski the "Ox." We know that our host Rick wrote a rip-roaring letter. And, here it is:

Dear Potential Friends:

It’s that time of year to talk about the 7th annual Denver Commitment. Last year as I’m sure everyone is well aware, we had some problems with certain individuals (you know who you are, the “bad apples”) backing out at the last minute. Due to this costly experience, I have decided to implement a new program. This program now requires interested individuals to pledge a non-refundable $200.00, six of which have already been received, by January 7th, 1992 in order to reserve a spot on the roster. Get it in early; it looks like we will have a lot of people this year. If a check is not received by this date (notice how harsh my voice is getting), you are still encouraged to attend however you will be responsible for your own accommodations I hate to have to do this, NOT!! Please make checks payable to:

Rick Schmitz Educational Fund

Of course, as always the money will be going to a good cause and is tax deductible. Please direct all complaints and grievances to John “Happy” Kronenburg.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, lets talk about the vacation of a lifetime. This luxurious vacation begins with a four-night stay (13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th of February, president’s Day Weekend) at the wondrous Vail Manner in Vail, Colorado. For those who have not been there, it’s right on the slopes and in close proximity to many fine and well-established watering holes. Please try and arrive early evening on the 13th, as we will be driving up that night. Other special events include:

1) Jim Beecher and Jon Paukovich lecturing on the effects of marijuana on the central nervous system.
2) Daddy Doza’s chili eating contest.
3) Kronenburg’s “Staying happy in the 90’s “ seminar.
4) Fraher and Geo on “AIDS vs. Abstinence, How We’ve Stayed Safe.”
5) ED & Ed’s Boyfriend “Bi-sexuality, How to Make It Work.”
6) Pete Truxaw will illustrate what it is like to live with an alcoholic.
7) Snorts representing Ginny Craig’s diet plan.
8) Uwe’s photography class.

And that’s all folks! One last comment, all kidding aside, please let me know with cash, unfortunately this seems to be the only way.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
